Greek Orthodox chanting will feature in the coronation of King Charles III as a homage to the King\u2019s late father Prince Phillip, who was born on the Greek island of Corfu and previously a member of the former Greek royal family.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The coronation, which will take place today, will\u00a0feature Greek Orthodox music by the Byzantine Chant Ensemble<\/a>, led by Dr Alexandros Ligas.<\/p>\n

\u201cIntegrating Greek psalmody into the equally ancient rites of the Coronation service is a profound and beautiful demonstration of the deep appreciation for Orthodox Christianity long shown by both His Majesty and the late Duke of Edinburgh,\u201d Dr Ligas said.<\/p>\n

The ensemble is made up of experienced singers who have served as cantors in cathedrals and parishes in the United Kingdom and\u00a0Greece.<\/p>\n
